Inside of the carriage was modern, sleek and spotless, and amenities were as described. All you could ask for from a weekend getaway away from the city. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

  We absolutely lived our 2 night stay at the Train Carriages. First and foremost, yes it is next to the train line but the trains are not loud at all... read more and did not disturb our stay at all. We loved the addition of the platform for prime train viewing (the platform is the cutest spot to watch them from). And we were supplied with a timetable to know when they were coming past. A must stay place for any train lover.
The carriages are beautifully built and decorated, comfortable and homely. Macksville is very close by for all necessities but you also feel very secluded. We went for a drive into Nambucca Heads too which was gorgeous.

  We stayed for two nights to rest and escape some weather while bike touring our way south. Dave took the time to drive us to the bike shop in Macksville... read more twice to have one of our bikes repaired, which is way beyond what we could ever expect from a host. We loved the convenience of the continental breakfast and the home baked biscuits were wonderful. The setting next to the railway was fun and not at all disruptive. The rail cars were immaculate and Dave and Diane did a super job making them a unique and memorable place to stay.

The host was very helpful with suggestions for the next leg of our trip; the sheer novelty (and good value) of the train carriages make them a top choice for anyone visiting this part of the country.
